8 civilians, including three brothers, killed in West Kordofan town
RSF agree to pay blood money and vacate town
Eight people were killed and ten others injured in an outbreak of violence in Ghubaysh, West Kordofan, involving local community members and the Rapid Support Forces.
The series of events in the West Kordofan town highlights the limits of RSF’s power in far-flung rural areas that it dominates but does not directly administer. Although the paramilitary moves freely throughout much of West and North Kordofan, unchallenged by Sudan’s army, it does not have troops stationed in every town and village. In many places, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) lack local support and must contend with heavily armed citizens and strong-willed local leaders.
