Did the Rapid Support Forces execute prisoners of war?
Soldiers of the Atbara Artillery were brutally beaten and possibly shot
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) captured a group of soldiers from the Atbara Artillery of the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) in Omdurman on Tuesday, August 8, questioned them about their place of origin, and severely beat them, before one member of the RSF opened fire on them, leading to an unknown number of injuries and deaths.
A video of the shooting itself shows that at least two of the prisoners dropped to the ground immediately after the gunshots. This video went viral amid claims that it showed the execution of at least two prisoners.
However, it is unclear from that video alone if the men were injured by the gunfire, killed, or just fell down to take cover from the shooting. After the shooting, the cameraman almost immediately stopped filming.
