Dissident officers arrested in Omdurman
Mid-ranking officers allegedly had criticized the army leadership
Sudanese military intelligence have arrested several mid-ranking commanders in the frontline Omdurman region, triggering rumors of a foiled coup plot. At least three news sources confirmed the news, while offering differing explanations for the arrests.
Sudan’s army is currently in the tenth month of a war against a formerly allied paramilitary, the Rapid Support Forces, which controls much of the country’s west, most of the capital Khartoum, and about half of the largest city, Omdurman.
