An explosion from an unknown source destroyed the East Darfur State Government Secretariat building in the state capital Ed Daein on Sunday, March 16, 2025.
Local sources told Sudan War Monitor that the health insurance headquarters on Airport Street was also hit. They stated that no aircraft were seen during the shelling, suspecting that the attack was carried out by a guided missile or long-range drone.
They reported that the shelling coincided with a meeting of the state's civil administration, resulting in the near-total destruction of the building, with no estimate of the extent of the human casualties.
The city, which is controlled by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), has suffered bombings by SAF warplanes on previous occasions. There are no nearby SAF forces, except in neighboring North Darfur State.
