Sudan’s army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) fought for several hours Saturday morning in Nyala as the humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate in the South Darfur capital, which is Sudan’s most populous city outside of the capital region.
According to Sudanese media reports, the Nyala market was completely closed amid fighting in the north of the city, south of the wadi, and around Al-Zawiya Mosque near the army warehouses. At least three civilians were killed in shelling.
This follows the deaths of another five people, including two children, during fighting Thursday evening, according to the Darfur Bar Association.
