Hemedti threatens to attack Port Sudan
RSF leader angered by Al-Burhan's international tour, growing stature of Port Sudan
A new audio recording by the leader of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) today revealed his concern with the growing status of Port Sudan as the alternative capital of Sudan following the RSF’s occupation of most of the Sudanese capital Khartoum.
“We must not allow the formation of a war government in Port Sudan,” said Mohamad Hamdan Dagalo, known by the nickname ‘Hemedti.’
“Establishing such a government would lead to scenarios seen in other countries where two parties control different areas.”
Hemedti appears to have hoped that capturing Khartoum would lend him domestic and international legitimacy as the de facto ruler of the country, but the opposite has happened as he has grown increasingly isolated despite his military successes.
