Hemedti says his rival al-Burhan is not serious about peace
The leader of the Rapid Support Forces, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as “Hemedti,” delivered a 29-minute speech in a video Thursday, November 2, in which he blamed former leaders of the Bashir regime for the current war and claimed they were still secretly influencing and controlling the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF).
Hemedti criticized and belittled the SAF Commander-in-Chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan. While not closing the door to a ceasefire, he showed more interest in casting blame for the war than resolving it, while absolving himself of any responsibility.
The video was recorded in a large underground room, possibly inside a mosque, as Hemedti spoke to a crowd of newly recruited RSF soldiers. Among the highlights:
