Sudan's military regime reluctant to accept peace talks in Saudi Arabia
A leading member of Sudan’s military junta, Malik Agar, criticized the U.S. Secretary of State during an appearance in Port Sudan on Wednesday, May 29, accusing him of “contempt and disdain” for Sudan’s sovereignty and its leader.
Agar’s comments followed a phone call the day before between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and the leader of the Sudanese military junta, Lt Gen Abdel Fattah al-Burhan. He implied that Blinken was high-handed with the Sudanese leader as he tried to convince him to send a delegation to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to resume negotiations with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
