Security authorities in South Kordofan suspend humanitarian activities
Kadugli, South Kordofan – Authorities in South Kordofan have halted the activities of several civil society organizations operating in the state. The General Intelligence Service has taken over all procedural matters related to these organizations, replacing the Humanitarian Affairs Commission, which is typically responsible for overseeing humanitarian and civil work in the region.
Local sources in Kadugli report that the suspension order was issued personally by Major General Taha El-Siddiq, Director of the General Intelligence Service. Among the activities affected are community kitchens, livelihood projects, food distribution, efforts related to public awareness, peaceful coexistence, and democratic transition.
The Humanitarian Affairs Commissioner for South Kordofan has denied responsibility for the recent measures implemented by the General Intelligence Service. According to the commissioner, these actions are the result of higher-level directives from the state apparatus.
This development is part of a broader pattern of the General Intelligence Service obstructing numerous humanitarian and development activities by various civil society initiatives and organizations in the state.
