The city of El Fasher in North Darfur suffered intensive shelling by the Rapid Support Forces in late August, despite a lack of clashes between the two sides in recent days.
As a result of the indiscriminate shelling, dozens of civilians were killed at Abu Shouk Camp market on Monday, August 26, according to the Abu Shouk Emergency Room, a volunteer initiative in the camp.
This group listed on its Facebook page the names of 17 dead and 17 wounded, saying also that there were others who were not included in the list.
Additionally, the Abu Shouk Emergency Room published a report on the humanitarian situation in the camp, saying that all the collective kitchens in the camp have gone out of service, as well as the children’s feeding centers and health centers.
Flooding as a result of heavy rains, coinciding with the rainy season, further worsened the situation in the camp, destroying homes and facilities.
