Army and state leaders scramble to avert another military disaster
Authorities in White Nile State are bracing for a potential invasion by the Rapid Support Forces. They are trying to spur military recruitment while also encouraging civilians to take up arms, announcing ‘popular mobilization’ at a rally Saturday.
Following the RSF takeover of Jezira State last month, the focus in neighboring states has shifted toward bolstering local defenses, rather than mobilizing troops to send to the capital region.
