Map: Abdelrahim Dagalo leads the RSF’s Darfur offensive
Tracking the route of the deputy RSF commander-in-chief
Our latest map highlights the role of Abdelrahim Dagalo, deputy commander-in-chief of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), during the recent offensive in Darfur. He traveled from city to city overseeing attacks against military targets.
Local RSF fighters already had besieged each of these cities prior to Dagalo’s arrival, but he sometimes brought with him reinforcements, and he rallied the troops as he urged on the offensive. The offensive resulted in the fall of army garrisons in four state capitals in Darfur: Nyala, Zalingei, El Geneina (Ardamata), and El Daien.
The map also highlights the potential next stage of the offensive, toward Babanusa in West Kordofan (red dotted line) and recent clashes in that state (in which Dagalo was not directly involved).
